Zaveck Shocks Hlatshwayo

Relatively unknown welterweight Jan Zaveck (28-1, 16KOs) stunned the crown at the Wembley Indoor Arena in Johannesburg, South Africa by dominating and eventually knocking out South African native Isaac Hlatshwayo (29-2, 10KOs) to win the IBF welterweight title.

Zaveck scored one knockdown in the second and two in third round; Hlatshwayo had no answer, forcing the referee to step in and stop the fight.

This bout was the first title defense for Hlatshwayo who earned the vacant crown by split-decision victory over Delvin Rodriguez in August.

Sam Peter Stops Gabe Brown in Four Rounds

Former WBC heavyweight champion Sam Peter (33-3, 26 KOs) of Nigeria now fight out of Las Vegas, NV continued on the comeback trail by stopping Gabe Brown (18-13-4, 9KOs) who weighed in at an astonishing 363 pounds, in the 4th round in Youngstown, Ohio .

This was Peter’s third straight victory fighting under Top Rank promotions all by early knockout.

After the fight Peter declared that he was ready for a title shot, preferring a rematch with either Klitschko brother, who both hold victories over Peter.
